Food Tour in Stockholm

A sleepless night, hopefully my clock resets soon! So a lazy start to the day. Had to go get a USB cable to charge the tablet (can't believe I packed the wrong one). Thankfully the task was easily taken care of.

This afternoon I am on a food tour of Stockholm.

Meeting place was an outdoor market. Lots of fruit and vegetables, as well as plant and flower stalls.

First stop, Saluplats Human, for some traditional Swedish meats.

Hellbergs, dedicated to game and birds.
Here we had reindeer mousse, moose sausage and black bear.
Saluplats
A cheese sampling,

Hearing and salmon, schnapps and beer!

They also threw in a Finnish stop. Finska Butiken for Karelian pasties, a pastry topped with egg butter (chopped hard boiled egg and butter).

Next to Tranan for Swedish meatballs and gravy with mashed potatoes and lingonberries berries (and a bit more beer). Sorry no pictures, we were all too excited. Absolutely fantastic, not your IKEA meatballs!

Tennstopet - traditional toast skagen (similar to shrimp salad)

Bakery & Spice, organic sourdough bread. Tasty, tasty, tasty.

StikkiNikki for organic, fresh daily, homemade gelato. They have over 500 proprietary recipes. We tried: Butter Salt Kola, Blueberry Sorbet, Passionfruit Sorbet, Fatty Vanilla and Belgian Chocolate gelato.

To finish off the day, Cafe Rörstrans for fika (coffee break) and of course a couple more sweets.

Got directions to walk back to my hotel. Great tour, great guide and a good group of people.

  1. Wow - that's a lot of food. You didn't mention if you liked it all, what your favorites were (besides the beer ;) or if you liked Black Bear (I'd have issue stuffing that down my throat). The market where you met looks fabulous - so colorful!

Another great day traveling from my desk chair...thanks, Brenda!!
